Cat Cafe Nekorobi

Daddy was in Tokyo last week and while he was there he went to Cat Cafe Nekorobi (where he cheated on me with many other kitties but the kitties at Nekorobi were really very cute so I forgive him).

Cat Cafe Nekorobi at 3F Tact T.O Building Higashi-Ikebukuro, Toyoshima-ku, Tokyo

Floor to ceiling cat tower. I waaaaaaaaaaan…

This is a brilliant cat house. I also waaaaaan.

Cat cafes in Japan are pretty popular places where you can have a drink/snacky in the company of many many kitties. It is a very good place for people to be because you can relax and find great joy and pleasure in the presence of the wonderful-ness of kitties.

Daddy paid a cover charge of 1000 Yen to be in the cafe for 1 hour. There are fixed hourly slots for entry (i.e. 5pm – 6pm, 6pm – 7pm etc) so it is best to be there at the start of a particular hour slot so that you have a full hour in the cafe. Daddy arrived at Nekorobi at 6:30pm and could only stay until 7pm but still had to pay 1000 Yen. You of course can stay longer than that if you want, but then you would have to pay for the additional time.

In the cafe, there drinks and snack vending machines where you can help yourself (all free). There is free WiFi, Wii and computer which you can use. And also lots of sofas and bean bags for you to lounge on. He had to sanitise his hands before he entered and he was allowed to play, touch and carry all the kitties in the cafe and take as many photos as he wanted.

The kitties were all very comfortable around people and weren’t scared at all although Daddy thought they were all a little lazy because they were not interested in the games he tried to play with them. I think it’s because they don’t understand him because they only speak Japanese.

Meet some of the Nekorobi kitties

What a handsome kitty

Super gorgeous British Shorthair

The Lion. Why the Lion? See its backview!

The one on the left is The Lion!!

The staff at the cafe speak minimal english. He tried to ask one of the waitresses what the cats were fed because their fur was SUPER soft and she ended up giving him a packet of cat treats. But…all the kitties did all come running to him and find him extremely attractive at that point.

Waiting waiting waiting for treats

The one on the right is a Munchkin! Can die…so cute.

Daddy said this baby was the friendliest and has the softest fur. Softer than mine he said. Impossible!!

There were quite a few people in the cafe at the same time as Daddy so this cat cafe concept is indeed well loved by the wonderful Japanese people.

Someone even brought his own kitty to the cafe!

So popular that they even have loyalty card

Daddy had a really nice time to the cat cafe and Mummy is very jealous he got to go. She really really wants to go too. Me wonders if such a concept would work here in Singapore. It would be nice to have one…we have so many kitties here in Singapore in shelters and foster homes. Why not have a place where people who love cats can come and enjoy some time with them in a nice comfy homey place. Then some of these kitties can have a home and a job!

And now for the absolute best photo from Nekorobi….

Exhausted from all that entertaining

heyy they’re all sooo super cute!! i wish i were there to disturb them & get them all on scramblin around on their lil’ paws instead of lazin’ around!

Chewy always gets compliments from strangers on her super soft fur too. One (cat) woman even said that all her cats’ fur are not as soft as Chewy’s… only one other calico that she had had softness like hers. And she said maybe it might have to do with some color thing? LOL really? I on the other hand get commends like my fur feels like a toilet scrub -_____- (hey that’s because my breed is supposed to have harsh fur!)

its okie Misty, you’ll be able to beat that kitty soon with all the good raw noms u’ve! =D

My LL loves these cafes very much too. She went to one in HK and one in Taipei and it only made her miss me more when she saw those kitties. Hehe…

My BB also went to one in Tokyo and he also complained that most kitties just do not want to play or too lazy. Unlike me, I love to play. I always shout for LL or BB to pay attention to me and throw balls for me to chase around.

Ah, I love the British Shorthairs (I just posted a photo of mine on my blog, if you’d like to look). Great post, and how funny that the kitties only spoke Japanese! Your Daddy loves you best of course! 🙂
